Charlotte Smithson


Charlotte Smithson is an artist who works across disciplines and founded Festoon in 2018 as a platform for creating visual art installations that use natural materials. Festoon fuses her love of nature with immersive experiential design. With interests in science, botany and history Charlotte’s work is grounded in research and reading.

Her career in the cultural sector spans 15 years and Charlotte works extensively with galleries, museums, heritage organisations and other public spaces across the UK to design visitor experiences that tell stories. She offers consultancy in interpretation, content development and creative community engagement. Her portfolio includes projects with the National Trust, Edinburgh World Heritage, English Heritage and the Science Museum Group.

Charlotte has exhibited botanical installations nationally,  including the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, End of the Road festival in Dorset, Bloom! York and was the joint winner of the New Covent Garden’s British Flowers Week Competition 2018 at the Garden Museum.
